The subject of this publication is the statistics on road traffic accidents with persons injured in Austria, which have been compiled and published by Statistics Austria since 1961.
The introductory chapter deals with the methodological background, in the following part the main results of the road traffic accident statistics 2022 are described.
The objective and purpose of road accident statistics is to provide important data for accident research and prevention; the results are also taken as a basis for the development and evaluation of the Austrian Road Safety Program. In addition, data on accidents as well as vehicles and persons involved are the basis for analysis and safety-promoting measures in the area of traffic safety and policy.
